Euthanasia. Your Choice?

It is My Choice

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE YOUR OWN LIFE?

Because people are suffering unnecessarily with illnesses they have no control over or there isn't a cure and not likely to be in thier lifetime.

We have all dealt with illness at sometime in our lives and most people have dealt with cancer, personally or someone they know. I am, at the moment in remission from Ovarian Cancer but I know that one day the big C could return and that it will more than likely be terminal, that is why I have made arrangements for me to die when I want!

I have not involved any loved ones because that would be a selfish thing to do, I want them to live thier lives when I die and not be badgered by the laws of the land, we have discussed this at great length and they agree that if it gets 'too much' for me they will not try to stop me because they have been through this with me before, they have seen and lived through the pain and effects it has on everyone involved.

HOW?

The laws for euthanasia should be very strict to deter unscrupulous friends and relatives helping someone along.

The patient must tell their Consultant and GP what they want and forms should be made out and witnessed independantly, copies must go to the patients Solicitor, the Health Authority Legal Department, the Police and of course the Next of Kin, for this to happen the patient must be 'of sound mind' which should be established by a Phsyciatrist. I believe the cost of this should be met by the patient or a Means Tested Grant.

When the time comes, (believe me, your family and medical staff will know when) you should be given a drug that will send you to a very peaceful sleep. I think most people hope to die that way......in thier sleep.

SUMMARY

This is my opinion and maybe I have not thought of everything in the whole process if it was made legal, but this does not stop me arranging this for when the time comes because I know I will be at peace and out of pain and my family will be able to move on.

I know this is easy for me to say when I am gone and they will be left behind but as a family we know each other enough to realise none of us make important decisions lightly and we respect each others opinions, they would not want to see me suffer more than I did before.

Thank you for reading and have a great life!

If I was on life support because of a fatal injury, I would want my family to pull the plug ASAP.

I would not want to waste any resources trying to keep me alive, because I don't think it would be worth it.

dutch84,

It is easy to say when thinking of these kinds of horrible senerios, but hink of how inspired you have been by others who have fought back from seemingly unsurmountable circumstances.

People when actually faced with these kinds of adversities, often make a different decision, then they thought they would, when they were healthy.

Ecclesiastes 9:4 “For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.”
